How I clean my makeup brushes!

Washing my makeup brushes always seems last on my to do list. In an ideal world I would like to do them once a week.. Truth be told I'm lucky if I do it more than once a month. It's a really good idea to clean your makeup brushes on a regular basis-especially if you use your brushes on a daily basis. This will help prevent build ups on your skin from applying days old make up onto fresh clean skin.

I wash my brushes using luke-warm water and either a mild baby shampoo or this Clean & Clear truly gentle facial wash. It's not harsh or perfumed which is great for keeping the hairs on the brush soft and gentle and feeling brand new when you go to use them again.

I clean them in the sink and rinse them all after. Leave them to dry over night and wake up to perfect brushes again!

What's your fave brand of makeup brush ?

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water | Review

I am constantly battling between the lack of effort to remove my makeup properly using products that are kind to my skin and the roughness of makeup wipes.

I don't necessarily have sensitive skin but when it comes to makeup wipes, they always seem to leave my skin feeling tight, sore and irritated no matter what brand I use. Although they are convenient and quick, I'm starting to see that they have no benefits to my skin whatsoever!

Everyone raved about the Bioderma Micellar water for such a long time however, Garnier soon brought this little saviour out with a price tag at a fraction of the cost. I have had this bottle for months and it just seems to last for ever (no complaints here!)

Its gentle on the skin due to natural ingredients, non perfumed and works super fast. Its great for those nights when you are collapse on your bed before taking your makeup off and can't  bear the idea of sleeping with mascara on your lashes and foundation clogging your pores. Just grab a cotton pad, poor some of the product on and sweep it over your face.. no vigorous rubbish required. The fact it doesn't need rinsing after is also a huge bonus!

It leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean before bed and I don't have to worry about leaving traces of dirt and makeup behind because this stuff really picks it all up!

10/10!!

How I clean my makeup brushes..

Just a quick post on how I clean my makeup brushes. I try to do this as often as possible but end up doing it around every 3-4 weeks as I dont tend to use them all the time. I use the clean & clear truly gentle facial soap as it isnt perfumed and doesnt destroy the brushes. I get a bowl of luke warm water and spend about 30 seconds on each brush giving it an intense cleanse, think about the massage process when washing your hair. I refresh the water and let them soak for about 5-10 minutes to remove any residue soap. Once i have done that i lay them all on a towel making sure they maintain their original shape by manipulating the hairs on the brush. They can take around half an hour to dry and then they are ready to get dirty again!

Sultry lashes and Berry bold lips! | Christmas Make-up look

Seeing as though it's almost Christmas, I thought it was appropriate to do a little makeup look for you all ready for the festive parties! I went for lashes and lips for this look. If i was to wear this look for Christmas i would definitely pair it with a berry red, glitzy dress!

I primed my face to create a smooth base before applying my Dream Satin liquid foundation. The primer ensures longer lasting power for my makeup which is essential for all party animals. I blended my foundation with my Real Techniques Stippling brush as i feel it gives the best, flawless looking finish to my skin!
Using a MUA eyeshadow powder, i filled in my eyebrows to give definition and structure to my face

I also used the MUA eyeshadow palette in Undress Me Too and used the shades Lavish (a matte light brown), along with Fiery and Tranquil (two shimmer based shadows) to give a bit of sparkle
To contour and bronze my face I used my Bourjois chocolate bronzer, tracing the outline of my cheekbones and taking it up to my temples to give a chiseled look.

I added some long sultry lashes, long and plain to match my eyeshadow. This look is all about the bold lips!

On my lips i used a Kate Moss lipstick in 60/09 (depending which way up it goes) followed by Rimmel's vinyl gloss which gave shine and shimmer!
At the moment, I am really into head pieces and Bindi's so i just added a small crystal Bindi to finish off the look.

Fragrance Direct | Mini Beauty Haul

Hi guys!

The other week my order from Fragrance Direct came through the post and i just wanna show you what i got..

For those of you who don't know, Fragrance Direct is an online website that sell makeup, perfume, bath and body stuff, hair products etc, for a low cost.

I can't remember exactly how i came across them but i have been ordering with them since January and i absolutely love what they have to offer, it's a good place for all you beauty testers who want to try new things but cant justify forking out £10 for a lipstick that you may hate (or am i the only one who feels this way?!)

Since January, my order's ALWAYS consist of Essie nail polishes because at £1.99 a bottle, you can get 3 or 4 for the same price as you'd pay for just 1 bottle in boots etc.

This time round i got the shades 'Fear or Desire' a vibrant neon orange-perfect for the upcoming summer months, and i also got 'Off The Shoulder'- a very girly, pretty pink!

RRP each: £7.99 in boots

I have been wanting to try the Kate Moss Lipsticks from Rimmel and when i saw them on the website i just couldn't say no, so i got 2.

RRP: £5.49
Not very summery shades, but gorgeous colours eh?

I also picked up a cheap mascara, i used to used this and i actually really liked it considering how cheap it was, it lengthens my lashes whilst thickening them at the roots given a nice coat of product.7

Including packaging, i think i spent £14 which is so amazing when it should have come to at least £20!

Have you bought anything from Fragrance Direct? Or tried any of these products?

April favourites!! | demiDOODLES

Where did April go?!

It's the 2nd of May already.. where has this year gone can somebody please tell me! On the other hand, I'm super excited because i can learn to drive next month!!! can i get a wooop wooop!!!!!

I feel like i have abandoned my blog and that's not good enough, I'm on my laptop almost everyday and read all the people i follow's new posts but never find the time to update my own:(

So although i have exams coming up this month and in June, i am going to blog more. I don't want to force myself to do it because that takes the fun out of it for me and you readers but if i can get myself into some sort of blogging routine i will be happy!

Anyway, onto today's post 'April Favourites'.

I have a few bits that i have used throughout April and really enjoyed so here we go

1.  I bought this on a bit of an experimental whim, i saw almost everyyyone talking about it in such a good way and it was £1 so i had to get my mitts on it. Its the Original Source lemon and tea tree shower gel and holy moly it smells so good, just like lemon curd (but trust me when i say it doesn't taste like lemon curd- yuckkkk)! It's extremely refreshing and feels good on the skin. I use it in the morning before school and work and it wakes me up so quickly and i just love it.

2. Every pay day i seem to order myself new Essie polishes, my collection just gets bigger and bigger and i now have a grand total of 7 or 8 polishes from this brand. I love their colour selection and although they are on the pricey side, they are amazing quality. They have flat brushes mixed with a smooth polish consistency which just glide across your nails. My favourite this month is called "we're in it together", and when it arrived in the post i literally just felt like a little girl again. Thoughts of Tinkerbell rushed into my head and it felt so good. It's a candyfloss pink but also has pink, purple and blue undertone shimmer/glitter inside. Perfect for spring and summer!

3. Next is my favourite perfume/scent of the month, usually in the spring and summer months i prefer fruity body mists but this perfume from River Island smells too good to not wear all the time. It's the River Island 'Paris' perfume and it's just lush.

4. Since I've been trying to look after my hair to prevent split ends and dryness, i took it upon myself to invest in a heat protecting spray to put on my hair before using my hair dryer, straighteners and curling tongs. This is the first one I've tried and it's the only one i need to try. It smells good, does what its supposed to and gives my hair a healthy shine afterwards. I got the travel size and will definitely re-purchase in full size if i can find it!

5. As some of you know, I've been experimenting with foundations and I'm also a big fan of MUA (make up academy) so when i found the illuminating foundation for under £3 i had to say yes. I'm really glad i did because its light and gives a nice coverage.

6. Last but definitely not least is the MUA Undress Me Too natural eyeshadow palette. It's made up of shimmer, matte and nude colours perfect for subtle looks and dramatic smokey eyes as well. I used this in my prom video that will be on my youtube channel extremely soon (here) to match my dress. The palette is so versatile and I've even used one of the shades to fill in my eyebrows!

So there are my favourites, what were your favourite things throughout April?

Bourjois Paris Bio detox Organic Foundation | Review

Ever since i started wearing make-up, i never really understood the point in foundation.. Not to float my own boat but my skin has always been quite soft and smooth so i was happy at that.

However.. since I'm a bit older and started blogging, i see all these people trying out new foundations and being able to tell the difference between the quality of each brand and having flawless, photo-ready skin. I decided it was time to jump on the bandwagon and see what the fuss was about and that's what i did...

I purchased the Bourjois Paris-Bio detox Organic Foundation in the shade 53- 'Light Beige', i have fairly pale skin with very pink cheeks for the majority of the time so i got the second lightest shade and thought if it was too light there would be something i could do to blend it (maybe use some bronzer or something).. It retails for £10.99 although i got it from fragrance direct for just £2.99 saving myself a great 8 pounds! The pot is a pump product dispenser which i liked, and the bottle reads: Fresh & even complexion detoxified skin, Chlorophyll- brings oxygen & filters pollution

It would be really great to be able to tell you how amazing this product is and how its my new makeup bag staple but i couldn't force myself to lie to you guys

Truth is, after reading some reviews on this foundation i was in a bit of a sticky dilemma as to whether to actually buy it or not, i got it at a discount price and there were an equal amount of good v bad reviews, so i thought it was my place to see for myself, after all- everyone's skin works differently with different foundations

When applying, i squirt small amounts onto the back of my hand and apply to each section of my face (cheeks, forehead, chin etc), it seems to dry out rather quickly making it start to drag across your face instead of gliding smoothly making you want to apply force when rubbing it in to avoid patches, also, once it is applied it is left feeling dewy and slightly sticky. It has a really nice smell to it, almost like cucumbers which makes it feel fresh. Although it is quite a thick foundation, it only gives a medium coverage, which is good for everyday use. I found it difficult to work with, this being due to the fact that i never knew i had dry patches of my face and this foundation certainly made it its job to let me know by clinging to these areas on my face leaving them a more orangey tone compared to the rest of my face.

I don't feel like it lasted a great deal on my face and would say, if i had time, i would be reapplying it around 2-3 times a day which is not exactly ideal for me.

I would only recommend this product for parties, nights out or events that don't occur on a daily basis but other than that i was rather disappointed with this product :(

Have any of you tried it? What are your thoughts or what foundations would you recommend me trying?
